Paradise, According to Alia Bhatt

Paradise, According to Alia Bhatt

Ever wondered what keeps industrious little Alia Bhatt so full of energy all the time? As it turns out, the Bollywood star makes sure to take luxurious holidays, in the dreamiest vacation spots. In December 2016, Alia’s chosen vacation paradise was the Four Seasons Resort at Landaa Giraavaru, in the Maldives. Clearly having the time of her life with her family, Alia promptly took to Instagram, sharing laid back shots of her gorgeous holiday that made us all a little jealous. In this article, we investigate the dreamland that won Alia’s (and her whole family’s) heart(s). Alia_Bhatt_at_the_DVD_launch_of_'Highway'_(cropped)

The Four Seasons at Landaa Giraavaru occupies an entire 44 acre island, and is located in Northern Baa Atoll. The island is, itself, a natural wonder, with a stunning two-kilometer lagoon finishing its Western tip. An ample boulevard encrusted with coconuts and palms welcomes you into the tropical splendor of the resort island. All 106 villas that make up the resort are peppered around the island’s flora, with care taken not to interfere with its breath-taking natural beauty. The whole resort is remarkable for the way it blends flawlessly into the natural surroundings.

Murad Ismail, protégée of the celebrated Sri Lankan architect and interior design master Geoffrey Bawa, led the project. The influence of the late master, founding father of the architectural aesthetic known as Tropical Modernism, is heavy. Murad and his team meticulously employed traditional Maldivian principles of building, and used materials that blend in organically into the surrounding landscape, instead of intruding upon it.

The villas feature thatched palm roofs, recycled coral cladding and open-air living rooms based on traditional Maldivian ‘bales’. The standard Beach Villas are a spacious 1,500 sq ft each, and each villa comes with its own beachy sand floor surround, and a garden shower. Each villa also features an open-air loft room, with spectacular views for the tourists.

Opened just a month and a half after the successful inauguration of the now world famous Four Seasons Resort at Kuda Huraa, lead architect Murad has also bestowed the impressive design with a few experimental touches. The Koimala Land and Ocean villa, covering a capacious 7,320 sq. ft of island land is a brand new villa concept, conceived and executed by the architect and his team. It maximizes the Maldives experience by incorporating the comfort of living on land with the appeal of sleeping on water. This villa has its own private beach access, a living and dining space, and a guest room. A wooden walkway built over a plunge pool links the sea-based sleeping complex that features a bedroom, bathroom and outdoor shower, to the rest of the villa. Based on what we can spy in Alia’s insta posts, the land based villas are no less gorgeous, with their private pool gardens and secluded walkways into the beach.

One of the must-experience-for-yourself features of the resort island is its extraordinary spa complex. Built as an altar for the senses, the Landaa Spa and Ayurvedic Retreat is located over 2.5 acres of land and sea, and houses 10 treatment pavilions. Step into its exotic and relaxing ambience and pamper yourself with one of its comprehensive and sensual programs, designed to address physical, spiritual and mental well-being. Apart from holistic Ayurveda, spa treatments also include the application of Tantric principles, and offer anything from a simple and sensual massage to an immersive 28 day experience.

The island resort, quite unsurprisingly, offers countless options for recreation (as if the setting itself wasn’t recreational enough!), with a whole retinue of water sports like surfing, sunset fishing and other exciting options. The island is dotted with the loveliest resorts, which bring a whole new meaning to the expression “where the land meets the sky”.

The resort is also the only passageway to an exclusive vacation island, Voavah, owned by the Four Seasons group. With 7 amazing villas that can accommodate 22 guests, Voavah is one of those outrageously gorgeous places that you wish you were holidaying in.
