The Obamas officially moved out of the White House early this year. However, they haven’t moved too far from the White House, and their new Washington DC villa, which is a mere couple of miles away from the presidential mansion, is located near the homes of other big names in the US government, including Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and even Amazon founder Je Lockhart. The house also makes the Obamas neighbours with the vice president who resides in the US Naval Observatory. The estate, which was bought in 2014 by former White House press secretary under Bill Clinton, Joe Lockhart and his wife, Glamour’s Washington editor Giovanna Gray Lockhart, is a spacious property nestled on about 8,200 square feet, and featuring a vast terrace with gardens, and a gated courtyard that can double up as parking for ten vehicles.
The real estate agency McFadden Group’s listing for the house reveals that it was built in the 1920s and renovated in 2011.
The villa boasts classy monochrome interiors inside an exposed stone facade.
The four-level residence has nine bedrooms and has eight full bathrooms.
It also includes three fire places and a magnificent wet bar.
An oversize terrace with formal gardens, and the gated courtyard/ parking complete the estate.
The Obamas have been quoted saying that Washington D.C. is going to be home at least until youngest daughter, Sasha, finishes high school.
Are the Obamas likely to remodel this gorgeous villa? What do you think?
